The Alaska Dream was a basketball team in the American Basketball Association. They began playing in 2008-09. Based in Anchorage, they are Alaska's first professional basketball franchise since the CBA's Anchorage Northern Knights, who were coached by Ron Moore, folded in 1982.[1] The Dream's head coach was Al Sokaitis, who previously coached the Alaska Nanooks NCAA Division II men's basketball team.[2]

On November 21, 2008 the Alaska Dream took to the court for the first time at the preseason 1st Annual Dare to Dream Tournament at the Carlson Center in Fairbanks. The Dream went 3-0 and won their first tournament and games in the teams history. In addition, the ABA released the power rankings which ranked the Alaska Dream at the number 2 spot.[3]

On December 30, 2008, the Alaska Dream canceled their participation in the 2008-09 season.[4] They were reportedly going to play in the 2009-10 ABA season,[5] but failed to do so.
